This course addresses design and manufacture for the performance industry with specific focus on developing a conceptual understanding of performance design. You can Study Abroad for a semester on the BA (Hons) Costume with Performance Design course where you will be able to choose to participate in either the costume and set design pathway or the costume making pathway.

This is a diverse and demanding subject; students need to be interested in art, design and all types of performance to support the study of the diverse array of genres they may encounter on this course, including theatre, film, television, ballet, opera, circus and the study of new performance disciplines.

Depending on when you come to the UK, and the pathway you choose, you will engage in design for costumes and for set or realise costumes from your own or the designs of others. It is this breadth of study that makes the course so comprehensive.

The University College is a very exciting place to study; you can work alongside students from the film, make-up, and acting courses on staged and filmed productions, or engage in studio based investigation. There may also be the possibility to participate in a short work placement within the theatre or film industry. This is a very labour intensive subject and the workload can be challenging, however, we provide a strong support network to all students in an inspiring and supportive environment.
